Carers Australia is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Peter Langkamp as its new President.

Carers Australia CEO, Ms Ara Cresswell, said, “We’re delighted to welcome Dr Langkamp as the President of Carers Australia. His considerable experience across the highest levels of business, non-profit organisations and his own caring role makes him a perfect fit to be able to drive the organisation forward.”

Dr Langkamp’s extensive experience incorporates both the private and public sectors and includes high-level positions at the National Disability Insurance Agency, Shell Australia, NRMA, Accenture and Bendigo Bank. He has also served on various Boards and, as a carer for his eldest son, has firsthand experience of the issues faced by Australia’s 2.7 million unpaid carers.

Dr Langkamp replaces outgoing President, Ms Karen Cook, who has made a tremendous contribution to the organisation over the last six years.

Ms Cresswell said, “Carers Australia would like to thank Karen for the great commitment and personal investment she has brought to the role of President over her term. Her inclusive leadership and personable nature have helped us forge strong relationships with our stakeholders and boosted our public profile significantly.”

Carers Australia will be hosting the 7th International Carer Conference being held in Adelaide from 4-6 October which is expected to attract more than 800 delegates both locally and from overseas.
