Carers Australia has partnered with Sigma, a pharmacy wholesale and distribution organisation with the largest pharmacy network in Australia.
Among other channels, Sigma is promoting Carers Australia as its partner of choice on its Amcal and Guardian websites.
Carers Australia will have an About Us section on the Amcal and Guardian websites and a dedicated landing page, which will go live in August.
We have a banner strip advertisement in the Guardian catalogue, which is in pharmacies and letterboxes now. This advertisement will also be in the Amcal catalogues in September.
A Carers Australia advertisement is also currently airing on the in-store radios of 120 participating Amcal pharmacies across Australia.
Free hearing tests during Hearing Awareness Week
Sigma, in collaboration with Australian Hearing, will deliver free hearing checks and hearing aid health checks to adults aged over 21 as part of Hearing Awareness Week (21-27 August).
The in-pharmacy hearing checks, available at participating Guardian and Amcal pharmacies, are non-invasive and take about 15 minutes to complete. The test involves people listening for sounds while wearing headphones.
In Australia, one in six people have hearing loss and this rate doubles for those over the age of 60.
People with hearing loss may experience tinnitus, known as a ringing sensation in the ears. Other key signs include difficulty hearing people on the phone and asking others to repeat themselves.
During the free 15-minute consultation, customers receive their results and advice about what to do next. This may include an invitation to attend a full hearing assessment with a clinician, which is available at no cost to Australian pensioners.
