This year’s Carers Week campaign 'Be Care Aware' will encourage people to get to know about more Australia’s carers, who they are, what they do and how they can be supported. There are over 2.6 million unpaid carers in Australia.
Carers come from all walks of life. They provide unpaid care and support to family members and friends who have a disability, mental illness, chronic condition, terminal illness an alcohol or drug issue or are frail aged.
Carers Week 2012 will run from Sunday 14 October until Saturday 20 October and will be launched nationally in Canberra on Monday 15 October by the Governor-General of Australia.
A host of activities will take place across the country throughout Carers Week with each carers association across the country staging a variety of events, including morning teas, seminars, and workshops.
If you would like to promote Carers Week in your organisation go to www.carersaustralia.com.au for more information and to order promotional and information materials.
