Joan Hughes resigns from Carers Australia

Carers Australia Chief Executive Officer, Ms Joan Hughes will be leaving the organisation.

Ms Hughes has been Chief Executive Officer, Carers Australia since 2006 and is highly regarded in the carers movement.

Mr Moore, President Carers Australia, says “Joan Hughes leaves us after nearly five years at the helm of Carers Australia, during which she has been instrumental in gaining Federal Carer Recognition legislation, and developing a strong policy and funding legacy for carer programs."  Ms Hughes has built a highly reputable profile for carers and Carers Australia both nationally and internationally.

A selection process to appoint a permanent replacement for the position of Chief Executive Officer will commence as soon as practical. 

The Carers Australia Board wishes Ms Hughes all the best for her future and thanks her for considerable contribution to the carer movement in Australia.
