Tony is a past employee of Carers Tasmania and brings to the Carers Australia Board a commitment and passion for ensuring that services and representation for carers continue and grow, particularly for male carers and the LGBTI community.
Tony had a 16-year career in the Australian Public Service (APS), achieving the level of Senior Manager. He is a graduate from the University of Tasmania with a degree majoring in Government and Public Policy, and a post-graduate degree from the University of Western Sydney majoring in Management. In addition, Tony has over thirty years’ experience serving on boards, committees and advisory groups in a voluntary capacity.
Tony was the full-time carer for his late wife Sue for five-and-a-half years until October 2015. Tony has recently remarried and is now a secondary carer for his wife’s teenage son, who manages an ongoing medical condition.
He is a recently-published author of a memoir titled Just One Word, Just One Smile, that details his experience as a carer. Tony has been a Board Director at Carers Australia since December 2017.
