Clare Masolin, Director

For over two decades, Clare Masolin has been engaged with the carer and disability sectors as carer for her (now) adult son, as a consumer representative and a consultant, across three states and territories.

Formally recognised for her extensive contribution to community, Clare's personal experience and grassroots connections inform her vision for greater carer recognition, appreciation and support - alongside those receiving care.

Exposure to culture change, implementation of and compliance with legislation during a five year Ministerial appointment to the inaugural Carers Advisory Council, following passage of the WA Carers Recognition Act 2004, complements Clare's background in education and banking.

Clare’s voluntary work is extensive. She was a founding member of the Territory Special Needs Support Network (NT) and Parent Focus (Perth, WA). She has also been actively involved in the Australian Association for Families of Children with Disability, the Telethon Institute of Child Health Research, Centre for Cerebral Palsy and the WA Cerebral Palsy Register.

Clare has won a number of awards over the years, including an Early Childhood Intervention Australia achievement award, Disability Services Commission award for ‘Making a Difference’, The Cowan Award for ‘inspirational leadership and dedicated commitment to parents of children with special needs’, and was a state winner and finalist in the National Carers Awards 2014.

With the intention of offering relevant, authentic representation where carers remain firmly in the conversation, Clare has been a Carers WA Board Director since October 2011 and was appointed to the Carers Australia Board in November 2015.
